And those success stories exist right here in our region: Meet Alyssa Jane, a seasoned stylist whose journey through the fashion industry has been nothing short of remarkable. From her humble beginnings at Esprit to her tenure at Tommy Hilfiger, Alyssa's passion for style has remained unwavering, even amidst the challenges of a global pandemic.
"I had grown up in Metropolitan Boston but found myself living in a small town in New Hampshire, commuting for 16 years," Alyssa shares. "When Covid hit and I was laid off, I felt lost. But sometimes, out of adversity, new opportunities arise."
It was during a BARRE exercise class that Alyssa experienced serendipity: A chance meeting with a classmate changed the course of her career. That meeting led to the discovery of a vacant space and sparked the idea of Alyssa opening her boutique. "The thought of a major entrepreneurial shift was scary," Alyssa admits. "But with the support of friends and the community, I decided to take the leap."
And from that leap, Rise was born: a chic consignment store with a twist, nestled in the heart of a lakeside community. It began as a curated collection of pre-loved fashion and soon evolved into something more. "I wanted to create an experience where people could find not just clothing, but a sense of empowerment and self-expression," Alyssa explains.
As Rise gained momentum, Alyssa noticed a growing demand for personalized styling services. "People were looking for more than just clothes—they wanted guidance in crafting their unique style," she says.
And so, Alyssa developed Shine: a styling service aimed at illuminating the individuality of each client.
"At Shine, our mission is to curate a style for every mind, body, and soul," Alyssa says. "We believe that true beauty shines from within, and our goal is to help clients discover their inner radiance through fashion."
Now in its third year, Rise has blossomed into more than just a boutique—it's a community hub where style meets soul. "I could not be more excited to see how our brand has grown," Alyssa reflects. "But more than anything, I'm grateful for the opportunity to connect with people and help them feel confident and beautiful in their own skin."
